SM for ‘Dear Rhoda’ with Shakespeare Project at Newberry

Christopher Prentice is continuing his role as stage manager, for the Chicago premiere of Dear Rhoda, presented by the Shakespeare Project of Chicago at the Newberry Library.

In chaotic bohemian Chicago of the 1920s, a powerful love affair is threatened by illness, a “red” scare, and anti-semitic hatred.

Written by Donna Russell and David Ranney, the production is adapted and directed by Peter Garino. The cast includes Josh Carpenter as Carl Sandburg; Joe Fernandez as Jack Jones; Jenny Hoppes as Martha Biegler; Dev Kennedy as Clarence Darrow; Tim Kough as Bert Weber; Dina Monk as Lizzy Davis and Nurse; Tom Morin as Jerry Nedwick; J.G. Smith as Rhoda Katz; and Alison Sokolowski as Fanny Brice.

The production features live music written and performed by Shawn Wallace.

Dear Rhoda runs Oct. 26 at the Newberry Library. For reservations, visit newberry.org/calendar/dear-rhoda.
