Autolycus in ‘The Winter’s Tale’ with Shakespeare Project
This winter, Christopher Prentice is returning to The Shakespeare Project of Chicago and The Winter's Tale when he appears as the rogue Autolycus in the company's theatrical reading production, running Feb. 21, 22, 24, and 25 at four Chicago-area venues.
For the SPC presentation directed by Peter Garino, Chris plays the recently disengaged servant to Prince Florizel opposite Josh Bernaski as the Shepherd's Son, Zack Bloomfield as the Old Shepherd, Dev Kennedy as Camillo, Kevin Woodrow as Florizel and Devri Chism as Perdita. The cast also features Josh Carpenter as Leontes, Leslie Ann Handelman as Hermione, Michelle Shupe as Paulina, and Joe Fernandez as Polixenes, with Christian Davis Aldridge, Bess Bokor, Vivian Bokor, Jenny Hoppes, Elyna Mellen, Dina Monk, Jim Morley, and Allison Sokolowski.
The production features original music and sound design by George Zahora. Whitney Carter is the stage manager and Sara B.T. Thiel is the dramaturg.
Chris played Leontes in the Project's 2016 staging, directed by Barbara Zahora, and Dion in Marti Maraden's 2010 production for the Stratford Festival.
