‘My Name Is Will’ Returns
This summer, Christopher Prentice is returning to The Shakespeare Project of Chicago's long-running presentation of Shakespeeare's sonnets and songs, My Name Is Will, at the Newberry Library.
Adapted and directed by Peter Garino, and featuring original tunes by Chris Walz, My Name Is Will depicts two couples navigating the ecstasy and agony of romance, using the sonnets as dialogue and music when words just aren't strong enough.
This performance reunites the cast — Judy Blue, Joe Lehman, and Mary Ringstad — after a five-year hiatus.
The production premiered in 1997 and has remained in the company's repertoire since. Chris joined the cast in 2016 and appeared again in 2018 and 2019. The pandemic caused a cancellation of a scheduled performance in 2021.
Part of NewberryFest, My Name Is Will plays July 20 at 12:15 pm in Ruggles Hall.
